Landis Valley Museum

The Landis Valley Museum is a great place to go when you want a learning experience that is fun. May 7&8 is the Herb Festival at Landis Valley. They have people knowledgeable in the growing and caring for herbs, they even will sell some. An expert will teach about old herbs used for cooking and medicinal purposes.

My experience with herbs is putting parsley, basil and few others in pots. Thus you see the difference in knowledge. Landis Valley has not offered me a job. :)

Life as an innkeeper

Well, today is just one of those days in an innkeepers life. I’ve been working with my developer to get a new website and he kept saying get me new pictures. Today is the day we did some of that, the photographer came and we did shots for a slide show (my preference). Friends came over to pose for some of them and we laughed a lot. All-in-all it went well, now this evening we are hoping for a nice sunset and finish up on this part of the project. I’m aiming for a June 1 debut. Things like this force me to get projects done that otherwise would wait, so that is a positive aspect of the day.

Food in Lancaster County

Let me tell you, in Lancaster County we know our food :) I love the farmers markets and anything connected with food. Many guests comment on the quality of food. I’ve lived here all my life so had to really give thought to what they meant, but I think it has soaked in and realize that I am so fortunate to have this quality and abundance at my door step. I use as much as possible from Lancaster County or Pennsylvania. As posted before I grown mostly vegetables but I do use them in breakfast as well. Tomorrow we are having a spinach bacon quiche that everyone seems to love.  Our sausage, bacon and ham are locally processed and taste scrumptious.
